Removable pool fence

Do you ever wonder if it can be dangerous to have pools open to the public when staying at a hotel/motel? Most have some type of removable pool fence. I have even found that I can't enter unless I have my room key with me. I think that's probably a good idea. Hate to see a problem or accident happen.
