Log Furniture

We have enjoyed working on our home over the past few years. It great to see the transformation right before our eyes. Change may not always seem like a good thing, but in this case it was. I was recently looking at some log furniture. I think some of the outdoor stuff is amazing! It might be the next change that we undertake.

Contemporary Furniture

About a year and a half ago, we started to redo our home. We started by clearing out a lot of the old decor. With that came getting rid of older furniture as well. We wanted more of the contemporary furniture. With all of the painting, decorating, flooring etc.... We now have transformed our space into a whole new look! We have really been enjoying it.

Squirrel Food

We have been putting out ears of corn for the squirrel population in the back yard. It seems like they are going through about an ear per day. They are fun to watch as they chew off pieces of corn from the cob and then find a place to bury them. They don't seem to mind if we watch them either.

Furnace Filters

Our winter was long and cold. We had a lot of snow and storms. Our furnace felt like it was running constantly. Bill will have to remove and replace our furnace filters this summer. I'm sure that they are filthy. It's nice because that is one job that is pretty easy to do. We just have to remember to purchase the new ones. Now a days most things can be boughten on the computer. Ease...........

New Carpet

One of the next big things I want to have done in our home is replace some carpets. Some the the carpet is over 20 years old. Other areas in the house have carpet that was put down about 10 years ago. I think that is long enough considering the traffic it has had and because I am ready for a newer style. As soon as the weather warms up a little we can begin our search for new carpet.

Chillin' By The Fireplace

We have really enjoyed our fireplace. It is nice to be inside where it is warm and sitting in front of the fireplace. It has been very cold lately so it makes us appreciate the time in the family room with a fire going. It is a gas fireplace and we are glad we had it put in.

Dolan Designs Lighting

We have had a great time transforming our home this past year or so. We use to have a strong country look and now have gone for more of a contemporary modern style. Dolan Designs lighting has many choices on light fixtures etc... I Love picking up ideas from a number of sources. It has been a lot of work, but well worth our time spent.

Tile Flooring

It's been quite the adventure remodeling our home. It so much fun to watch the changes. Flooring plays an important role. The decision of using tile flooring, wood or carpet is still an issue for us. There are some beautiful things to choose from. We have a ways to go yet, but hope to finish up within this following year.

Mattresses

As we all know, one of the most important parts to our day is to receive a great night sleep. For many years we owned the same bed and mattresses. I thought it was the most comfortable bed you could ever purchase. Little did I know that there was so much better out there just waiting to be bought. We finally caved and bought a new set. It is awesome and we are enjoying our sleep.

Busy Busy

Where has the summer gone. We have had all but maybe two weekends filled and away from home. It's tough to get things done around the house when we are never here. This weekend we are hoping to re stain our deck. It is in need. It's been about 3 years since we last had it done.
Summer has been great and we have enjoyed all that we have done. I just wish that time could slow down a bit. Next weekend we will be helping our daughter and son-in-law paint their house. Then we would like to take a trip down to see our sons. Go-Go-Go.............

A New Look

About a year and a half ago, we decided to transform our home. For many years we had a country type of style. Now we are going to the modern contemporary style. It has been a process, but we are sure liking it. We recently completed the bathroom upstairs. It is painted a warm sage green. We have added all brushed nickle accessories to complete the look. It's fun to have change.

The love of clocks!

I am not sure why, but I have a thing for clocks. I have a different kind in every room of my home. Some rooms even have multiples. They are fascinating to me. Even though I am not in need of anymore clocks, I still find myself shopping for them. Isn't that weird? I really have to just STOP! But will I?

John Deere

In helping set-up our son's condo, we found that he had quite a bit of John Deere gear and other items. We ended up setting up his den/spare room with some of the Deere stuff he has. I think he was pleased with the way it turned out. He and his kitty Mylie, are right at home now.

Kitchen/Dinning Area

This past weekend we helped move our son Jake into his first home. He purchased a condo and is very pleased with it. It was a lot of work, but well worth it! He has a spacious kitchen dinning area that is quite HGTV. He has done a great job in picking out colors. Things seem to come together well.

Light Bulbs

With the economy in the shape that it is presently in, we find most of us trying to save our pennies where we can. Utilities is one area of concern. Today you can find a vast variety of light bulbs. Some of them are made to conserve on energy. You can choose the strength and size needed to suit your situation. Do you need the lighting for the basement or the main floor? Do you want white or bright? There are many to choose from, so start saving today!

DVDs

I am sure most people remember using VHS tapes. We still have some but what we have most of are DVDs. The old family movies we had taped on VHS have been converted to DVD. We have a DVD recorder hooked to the VCR just for that purpose. It is handy and easy to use. The price of DVD recorders has come down a lot too. I think we spent well over $200 on ours. You can now buy one for not much over $100. Technology moves on.

Nice Inside

I enjoy my days off at home. It gives me a chance to catch up on things that are falling behind. We are now considering starting some painting projects. I would also like to install some more new lighting fixtures. We will have to get moving on this because Spring will be here before we know it. Summers are short and we always have a lot to do outside.

Carports

We have lived in our home for over 25 years now. I think for most of those 25 years, my husband has wanted to build a second garage. He has talked at times about carports and if that might be an option. I think we are finally coming to that time when we are going to make a decision on this subject.
